The Greatest Perspective of All

They say that the best teachers are those that know you best. I believe this to be true. A teacher that can reach into your heart and find your deepest needs, gaps, and desires is a teacher that will always succeed. Moreover, a teacher willing to go to great lengths to ensure your complete understanding of a given topic is a teacher like no other. This man or woman will never be forgotten. They will implant their face upon the hearts and minds of our young generations for decades, changing the future for the better.

My dad is one such teacher.

The Hunger Games and Literary Worldview

Suzanne Collins’ famous story “The Hunger Games” is arguably one of the greatest books of the modern day, particularly for its unique first-person style and sci-fi worldview.

The style was not, however, the focus of my attention as I read the series for the first time in 2018. The developing characters and dicey plotline did much to raise the book’s status in my eyes, but it was, by far, the worldview that made the largest impression upon me. After all, literary worldview is possibly the largest reason to read books in the first place.

The Owl: Symbol of Wisdom or Death?

I love talking about cultural differences. Quite honestly, they are something I could talk about for hours. The differences found between cultures is fascinating, and today’s example is no exception.

The owl has been associated with wisdom for centuries, dating back all the way to Greek culture. The Greeks believed that the owl was a symbol of Athena, goddess of wisdom, and as such hoped that the coming of the owl symbolized the coming of Athena. They passed this belief on to the Romans, who heavily influenced the development of Europe, which eventually lead to the influence of American culture itself.
