Appreciating God’s Creation

MusanaCamps01SS6A2163

As I write this, I am sitting on a mountain, a thousand feet up, overlooking Lake Victoria. I am in Musana Camps, a camp/ministry founded by my ministry, New Hope Uganda. Located, as previously stated, over Lake Victoria, Musana Camps reaches out to a lot of the fishing villages, while also providing a place for many to relax. Needless to say, this place is stunning.

So, as I enjoy this beautiful place, only one thing rests on my heart: God. Out here, it’s so easy to glorify in his creation, but once you return home, everything goes back to being rather bland. So, while in Musana, God is the first thing on my heart and mine. I want to relax and get some school done, but I also must remember that God takes priority, especially when I have more free time than usual.

So, even though it’s easy to appreciate God’s glory, that appreciation quickly becomes passive. We can look out at the view and say, “wow” but not thank God for His creation. After all, Romans 1:20 says, “For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”

So, the real challenge is to not relax into passivity and to actively appreciate God, not just because I’m in the most beautiful place on Earth, but also when I’m back at home. And, even though it’s easy to escape and get time with God, this is also a lesson for real life: it’s never too hard to take some time and talk to our Father.

Anyway, that was just a short blog post, but I will be doing a much longer one tomorrow. Be sure to look for it! In the meantime, thanks so much for reading! Your support means a ton to me.
